The Iredell County Parks & Recreation Dept and Iredell-Statesville School system that SIAA works with requires that ALL players for ALL sports be made aware of the Concussion Information and Child Abuse Prevention info available to our players, parents, and coaches.
COACHES: to be rostered to a team, first
register as a volunteer on the same account as your player. Then submit the following:
1. ALL SIAA VOLUNTEERS NEED BACKGROUND CHECKS!
Please visit https://bib.com/secure-volunteer/siaa-sports/ and click on the "Volunteer Now" button to get started. We negotiated a discounted fee of $14.45 you'll need to pay, and this will cover you for three years.
2. Volunteers must also complete this 30 minute Coach Concussion Training and then email a copy of your completion certificate to [email protected] before practices begin. NOTE: THIS SITE IS TRICKY TO NAVIGATE, AND EASIER ON A DESKTOP (nearly impossible on a phone). First create an account and then go back to the initial page and look for the green >Launch or Pre-Assessment button.

NOTE: The course stops along the way for you to click on pictures, etc. After completing all five parts, you have to go back to the original CDC page to click on the "Post Assessment" green button. After you pass the exam, go back to that same original page and click the navy blue "Certificate" button to download and save it to your computer. Send that certificate to Tracy.
3. ALL SPORT COACHES & Parents: Please also read this Child Abuse Prevention document. All coaches are also required to watch this important 9 minute video, "Key Actions for Parents and Coaches," which will also be shared at the coach meeting. Youth Sports Sexual Abuse Prevention Operation Procedures (unable to edit this document, but SIAA agrees to follow this plan)Highly recommended: all baseball coaches and assistants are encouraged to complete the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken course, "Coaching Youth Baseball," found at www.baberuthcoaching.org. It costs $19.95, takes about 2 hours to complete, and certifies you for life.
